    Parent Tips

Parents, we are parents too. We know you have your hands full, some of us more than others. Please know that with every decision we make as a school, we diligently consider how our decisions at school will affect you at home as parents. As circumstances present themselves, we need to share information that is mutually supportive and beneficial.

In the spirit of mutual support and cooperation, we ask, as teachers:

    • During online instruction, kindly be aware of background noise, loud conversations, and inappropriate language during online instruction. We can hear the conversations you may have in the background.
    • Be aware that if there is inappropriate language in the background of one home, that language may be broadcast to the whole class if you are not careful.
    • Whenever possible, please have your child sitting in a quiet, well-lit learning space in your home.
    • Your child may need breaks throughout the day for sunshine and fresh air. Children still need to move and exercise for obvious health reasons. Please support your child in going to the park or taking a walk around the block, school age children need to move. The benefit for you as a parent is that the children will exercise enough, get tired and focus better.
    • When returning to school please make sure you or your child’s guardian stay with the child until they have safely entered the building.
    • Your child needs to have a mask on when entering the building, walking around the building and in the classroom, as much as possible. Let’s take care of our school families

as well as we take care of our families at home.

  • Dear Teachers

    Dear Teachers,

I am doing research every day to locate reputable, legitimate and quality programs for you to share with your students and families. If you find the referrals listed here be of use to you or your loved ones, please do not hesitate to inquire for yourself or a loved one. Many medical services have opted for Telehealth or videoconferencing options in order to continue service delivery since it is an essential service. This is a short list of services, I promise! J

    Telehealth Pediatricians

    Alliedphysiciansgroup.com

This physician group is offering a pediatrician led discussion on COVID-19 today and uses the Anytime Pediatrics App from the App store or Google Play. They offer codes for sign-up and I personally use Beach Pediatrics code 5000. The Bellmore-Merrick Pediatric group code is 8800. The seminar today is about the spread of the infection in Nassau County and important information on caring for children. On the website there is specific information on fees, insurance plans and they are accepting new patients.

New patients, please call 833-269-2444 and enter practice code 2444

    For Adults: Telehealth Psychiatry

    Trifecta Health & Wellness: get.trifectahealthnyc.com or trifectahealthnyc.com

I am endorsing this service as a crisis resource since it always better to attend psychiatric appointments in person. However, under the circumstances if a patient is in critical condition, this is a resource we can turn to as an avenue for someone who needs ongoing treatment under the social distancing guidelines. The psychiatrist is Dr. Fruitman and he has an office in Hewlett and mainly works out of New York City.

Betterhealth.com: offers online visits with a telephone connection option also

Sign up online for services for children and adults

    Goodtherapy.org

This a clearinghouse service that will help you identify services in New York for your specific therapeutic need. Therapist biographies are listed with their specializations
