SENIOR SUNRISE! The Class of 2018!
A Message From the Principal......
Greetings Roosevelt Family and Community,
This is my second year as Principal of Roosevelt High School. I am very excited about the direction of our schools community. I received my Bachelors of Art Degree from the University California at Santa Barbara in Law and Society. I also obtained my Masters Degree in Education from Howard University in Curriculum and Instruction, Secondary Education. I have over 24 years of educational experience including 17 years in administrative leadership. We have some phenomenal initiatives at Roosevelt High School including our smart scholars program where students are able to obtain up to 32 college credits in high school from State University of New York (SUNY) schools upon requirement completion. We also have several advance placement courses in which students can receive college credit if they score a 3 or above on the national exams.
We have a partnership with Nassau BOCES for our students to obtain certification through their Nursing and Culinary Arts programs. We also have JROTC and exceptional Music and Athletic programs.
We expect for all of our students to graduate on time and to be college and career ready. We have the class of 2020, 100% graduation initiative. All of our 11th graders take the SAT for free, as well as, our 9th and 10th graders take the PSAT. We take our students on multiple field trips including to several college campuses and college fairs.
Our goal is to develop the whole child. We have several extra-curricular clubs and our main focus is leadership and community service. We want all of our students to understand what it is to be a giving person. We encourage our families and community to be a part of this process. We know that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Roosevelt Union Free School District is on the move in the right direction and we are very optimistic about our future.
