• For the Birds!     

                 The 4th graders participated in a special program entitled For the Birds!  This program, developed by Audubon New York, teaches environmental awareness and appreciation of nature through the study of birds.  This program has been offered in schools in the eastern region of New York since 1997. 

              On October 1st the 4th graders joined their teachers, Audubon representatives, and Ms. Beasley (elementary MST coordinator) on a bird walk around their school.  Students used scientific skills such as observing, inferring, hypothesizing, and classifying to identify birds. The students really enjoyed their bird walk and they made great connections. They are looking forward to an exciting year of science!
