  • Welcome Back

It is with elation, excitement, and effervescence that I return to serve the Roosevelt Union Free School District (RUFSD) community. I would be remiss if I did not properly extend my gratitude to the Board of Education, and to those of you who so graciously extended a warm welcome upon my return, as well as take the opportunity to appreciate Ms. Eva Demyen, Acting Superintendent, and Ms. Michele Van Eyken, Deputy Superintendent for their leadership and support of the District.

  • RUFSD Welcomes Superintendent Dr. Deborah Wortham

The Roosevelt Union Free School District Board of Education is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Deborah Wortham as the new superintendent of the Roosevelt Union Free School District. Dr. Wortham previously served as Roosevelt’s superintendent of schools from 2013 to 2015. During that time, Dr. Wortham’s strong leadership helped the Roosevelt School District reach new academic heights, including significant increases in standardized test scores, an all-time-high graduation rate and having all three of the district’s elementary school’s designated as Schools in Good Standing by the New York State Education Department. In addition, the structures that Dr. Wortham put in place during her tenure remain part of Roosevelt’s core mission and were the guiding force that ultimately led to Roosevelt Middle School coming out of receivership.
