Happy National Principals Month! I'd like to take a moment to express my appreciation for the leadership of our school principals. Thank you to all our principals for everything they do, not only this month but throughout the year, to help the children of New York State grow and thrive.

Don Crummel was inducted into the Nassau County High School Athletics Hall of Fame

Girls' basketball coach, Don Crummel, was inducted into the Nassau County High School Athletics Hall of Fame on September 28, 2022. Congratulations, Coach Crummel for your lifelong dedication and commitment to the Roosevelt Union Free School District.

Roosevelt School District Appoints Assistant Superintendent of Data, Attendance, Assessment, and Registration

Arlise Carson will oversee Roosevelt’s initiative to become a data-driven district ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (SEPTEMBER 2022) — The Roosevelt Union Free School District is excited to announce the appointment of Arlise Carson as the District’s new Assistant Superintendent of Data, Attendance, Assessment, and Registration. Mrs. Carson most recently served as the District’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction and has established a reputation for success and achievement within the District.

The start of a new school year brings excitement as we all contemplate what the new academic year has in store for us. However, one thing remains steadfast; the Roosevelt School District is committed to creating spaces in which meaningful learning and personal growth will occur. For those new to our District, whether as a student, staff member, teacher, or family member, now that you have joined the Roosevelt School District, you will forever be considered a member of this incredible and diverse family. Board of Education recognized for exemplary work amid the pandemic ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (JUNE 2022) — The Roosevelt School District Board of Education was recently acknowledged by the Nassau Suffolk School Boards Association for its work to advocate for students and the community amid the pandemic.

Roosevelt School District Welcomes New Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations: Gary Gentles joins District for 2022- 23 school year

ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (JULY 2022) — The Roosevelt Union Free School District is excited to welcome Gary Gentles as the District’s assistant superintendent of business and operations. Mr. Gentles has an extensive and versatile background as an administrator and leader who has a reputation for upgrading and strengthening the financial well-being of the districts he has previously worked in. In his new role, Mr. Gentles will report directly to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Deborah L. Wortham and be responsible for the financial operations of the District.

Roosevelt Wellness Presents: Morris Brandon Skills Camp

Grades 6-12, Roosevelt residents only. Every Saturday, July 2, 9, 17, 23, 30 and August 5, 12, at Roosevelt Park 8:30am. Full week skills camp, July 18- 22 from 9am to 3pm.

Happy Father's Day

June 17, 2022 To the Roosevelt Staff and Community: I, along with the Roosevelt School District Board of Education, would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the fathers and father figures in our community a healthy and happy Father's Day. Although Father's Day only occurs once a year, I encourage all to recognize the integral role the fathers of our community play in molding our scholars into the visionaries of tomorrow.

Centennial Avenue Students Create their own Student Treasure Books

Centennial Avenue students had the opportunity to participate in the Student Treasure Writing experience! The children participated in the writing process from start to finish with their teachers either by completing a class book or an individual book. The process promotes children's creativity and builds upon their reading and writing skills as they either work collaboratively or individually. Every child deserves to experience the excitement of becoming a published author!

Roosevelt High School Senior Awards

Last week, Roosevelt High School celebrated our graduating seniors at the Senior Awards. Congratulations to all of the scholarship and award recipients! Good luck in all your future endeavors!

Bereavement Announcement for Ms. Fanicia Jordan

Dear Roosevelt Union Free School District Community, The Roosevelt Union Free School District mourns the loss of our retired teacher, Ms. Fanicia Jordan. She was a treasured member of the Roosevelt Union Free School District community and was essential throughout her 21 dedicated years in the District.

Congratulations to Roosevelt Seniors who signed with their respective colleges on Friday to continue their athletic careers. Chelsea Martinez, joined by girls soccer coach Jeff Litwin, committed to Five Towns College. Jashir Gayle, joined by football coach Joe Vito, committed to Western Connecticut State University. Zavier Garrell, also joined by football coach Joe Vito, committed to SUNY Brockport. Kevin Arriaza, joined by wrestling coach Ben Syers, committed to SUNY Oswego.

Coach Don Crummell has been inducted into the 2022 Nassau County High School Athletic Hall of Fame

Don Crummell may not be unique, but he is one of a precious few high school coaches who has guided both boys' and girls' teams to Nassau County Championships.

Roosevelt Community has its own Little Free Library

Roosevelt was added to the international network of Little Free Library. The new Little Free Library was added in front of Washington Rose Elementary School and was dedicated to Twana Hobbs- Stanley! Our Little Free Library was built by kids for kids!

Dear Roosevelt Staff, Enjoy your Spring Holiday!

To the Roosevelt community, It is indeed an honor to take this time to thank everyone in the District and surrounding community for such a successful school year thus far. Since the start of the school year, academic and extracurricular achievement has been our focus, and I would expect nothing less from a District teeming with unparalleled talent and capacity. As we head into our spring break, I, along with our Board of Education, would like to wish everyone a peaceful and restorative week off. Take this time to observe Easter, Passover, and a continued blessed Ramadan with friends and loved ones.

Congratulations to Ben Syers and the Boys Varsity Wrestling Program

After years of hard work, they earned their All-County Jackets. On top of that, Kevin Arriaza earned a Nassau County Wrestling Coaches Association scholarship award and Anthony Villalobos earned the Dr Ruotolo/Tony Mara Scholarship award! Congratulations gentlemen!
