Gary Gentles joins District for 2022-23 school year
ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (JULY 2022) — The Roosevelt Union Free School District is excited to welcome Gary Gentles as the District’s assistant superintendent of business and operations. Mr. Gentles has an extensive and versatile background as an administrator and leader who has a reputation for upgrading and strengthening the financial well-being of the districts he has previously worked in. In his new role, Mr. Gentles will report directly to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Deborah L. Wortham and be responsible for the financial operations of the District.

We are excited to bring Mr. Gentles on board to lead our Roosevelt family as we embark on a journey marked with new levels of success,” said Dr. Wortham. “Mr. Gentles is a distinguished leader who we are enthusiastic to welcome to the District and confident will help maintain and build upon the District’s strong financial standing.”
Mr. Gentles began his administrative career in education in the Uniondale School District. He has also served as a school business administrator in the Hempstead School District. Prior to his work in education, Mr. Gentles spent 15 years in the private sector and gained a wealth of experience in operations & administration, financial management, information technology, and marketing. He started as a local manager at FIOS in 2002, became a staff manager at Verizon Communications in 2006, and became a managing director at Singersroom.com in 2009.
Mr. Gentles earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Finance from Manhattan College, a master’s degree in Education from LIU CW Post and an MBA in Accounting from Touro Worldwide.
"My goal is to help the Roosevelt School District thrive financially and operationally, in both the short and long term, by implementing rigorous, industry-changing processes, including new technological innovations,” Mr. Gentles said. “Establishing and cultivating relationships with school community members and students is also essential to me.”
Mr. Gentles is married to Tiffanie Poole, a Roosevelt School District alumnus, with whom he has three children. Outside of work and family, Mr. Gentles spends his time giving back to his community, including as a volunteer coach and mentor for youth football, basketball, and track.
