🎨🐰 ROOSEVELT SENIOR RUBEN MENDEZ EARNS SPECIAL ART RECOGNITION!
A Roosevelt student’s creativity is bringing the beauty of nature to gardeners across Long Island!
Congratulations to Roosevelt High School senior Ruben Mendez, whose expressive rabbit artwork earned a Bronze Level Award in the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County Student Art Competition. His winning piece will be featured for May in the 2027 CCE Nassau Gardening Calendar and Guide!
With its carefully drawn fur, alert ears, and lush green surroundings, Ruben’s artwork captures the charm of a rabbit while showcasing his artistic talent and attention to detail.
Ruben studied in Ms. Stacy J. Wasson’s Drawing and Painting I class last year. We thank Ms. Wasson for encouraging our students to develop their talents and share their creativity beyond the classroom.
His artwork will also be displayed at CCE Nassau’s headquarters in Eisenhower Park, where he and fellow honorees will be recognized at a reception on November 10, 2026.
💙💛 Congratulations, Ruben! You have given our Roosevelt community another wonderful reason to celebrate. We are proud of you!
