District Honors is Board of Education with Special Tributes
ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (OCTOBER 2025)—The Roosevelt School District proudly joins the New York State School Boards Association in celebrating School Board Recognition Week, observed this year from October 13 through 17. This annual event honors the vital contributions of local school boards in shaping public education and promoting student achievement.
Public schools serve as the cornerstone of our community and empower students to think critically, engage respectfully and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. At the heart of this mission is the Roosevelt Board of Education, whose vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication help drive our district forward each day.
School Board Recognition Week offers a moment to pause and express heartfelt gratitude. The impact of the Board’s service is felt each day, and Roosevelt is undeniably stronger because of their dedication.
Each Board member was honored by one of Roosevelt’s schools with a personalized tribute highlighting their leadership, service, and impact on student success. These presentations took place during the District’s Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, October 14.
“It’s an honor to recognize the Roosevelt Board of Education, not just for their governance but for their heart,” said Superintendent Dr. Shawn K. Wightman. “These individuals are deeply invested in our students, our families, and our future. Their leadership is reflected in every classroom, every initiative, and every success story across our district.”
Dr. Wightman added, “Our Board doesn’t just set policy. They shape possibility. They champion equity, demand excellence, and ensure that Roosevelt’s mission to educate the whole child is more than words. It’s action. Their decisions reflect a commitment to academic rigor, social-emotional growth, and global readiness.”
Roosevelt Union Free School District Board of Education Members include President Belinda Monroe, First Vice President Charlena H. Croutch, Second Vice President Dr. Regina Williams, Trustee Dr. Emily Moore and Trustee Kenneth Ware.
