Coach Kuar Comes From an Exceptional Eight-Season Run
Leading Nassau Community College Women’s Basketball Program
ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (OCTOBER 2025)—The Roosevelt School District is proud to announce the appointment of Coach Brian Kuar as the new Varsity boys basketball head coach at Roosevelt High School.
“Coach Kuar’s proven leadership, record of excellence, and passion for student success make him an ideal fit for Roosevelt,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “We’re excited to see our student-athletes thrive under his direction, both on the court and in the classroom.”
Coach Kuar joins the Rough Rider family following an outstanding eight-season tenure as head coach of the Nassau Community College Women’s Basketball Program, where he built one of the most respected programs in Region XV and gained recognition on the national stage.
Under his leadership, Nassau achieved more than 100 wins in just five seasons, reached the regional final four every year, and earned regional finalist finishes in 2019, 2020, and 2024. The program also celebrated a national tournament appearance, achieved a number one national ranking, and finished in the top five nationally. Coach Kuar’s excellence has been recognized with multiple Coach of the Year honors from various organizations.
Known for his emphasis on defensive discipline and player development, Coach Kuar has mentored numerous All-Americans, Region XV First and Second-Team selections, and student-athletes who advanced to four-year colleges to continue their academic and athletic journeys.
As Roosevelt Basketball begins an exciting new chapter, the district extends its heartfelt welcome to Coach Kuar and looks forward to a season defined by teamwork, perseverance, and Rough Rider Pride.
